To some, a whiskey decanter set might sound like the domain of a bartender or sommelier… but this couldn’t be further from the truth! It’s true that a decanter is an exceptionally elegant way to serve wine and spirits, but there are actually quite a few benefits to storing beverages in a decanter.

What can I put in a decanter?
Wine is the most common beverage to store in a decanter, specifically red wine. However, liquors like scotch, whiskey, rum, brandy, bourbon, cognac and tequila also do well in a decanter. For presentation at an event, a glass decanter can also be used to serve iced tea, water, juice and lemonade!
Can I put vodka in a decanter?
Yes! Vodka works well in glass decanters with thick walls. We recommend refrigerating the decanter before filling it with vodka for that extra “crisp” sensation.
How long can you keep drinks in a decanter?
Liquor like whiskey, scotch and bourbon can happily sit in a decanter for up to two years as long as the seal is airtight. Wine, on the other hand, is a little more complex. Decanting wine overnight is ideal, but it can be stored in a decanter for up to three days.
How long should I let the wine breathe before taking a sip?
If you plan on having more than one glass of wine, you should allow it to breathe in a decanter for at least two hours. Once decanted, we recommend swirling the wine and letting it rest for at least 20 minutes in a glass. This opens up the tannic of the wine and releases those delicious aromas.
Does a decanter need to be airtight?
Yes. A tight seal keeps the alcohol from oxidising. All of our decanters come with an airtight seal, so you can rest assured knowing that each pour will taste as delicious as the last.
What does my decanter set come with?
Your decanter set comes with the decanter itself, two matching spirit glasses and a personalised gift box for storage. We will engrave all items so it all matches perfectly.
What’s the difference between a decanter and a carafe?
A carafe is traditionally considered a “vessel” that holds liquid like water, wine, juice or alcoholic beverages. You might have even seen them used to serve iced water in your favourite restaurant! These “vessels” differ from decanters because they don’t affect the characteristics or flavour of the liquid it’s holding and are generally more “showy” decorative pieces for table settings.
How much liquid can my new decanter hold?
Your new decanter can store up to 750mL.
Do I need to cork my new decanter?
No! Our glass decanters come with a matching stopper.
Do your glass decanter sets contain lead?
No! All of our glassware is made from lead-free glass for a stronger, more durable product and, of course, for your safety.
Can I use whiskey stones in my new scotch/whiskey glasses?
Yes, you are more than welcome to use whiskey stones with your new scotch/whiskey glass set. Just be careful when dropping them into the glasses so you don’t chip the base!
Do you offer gift wrapping?
No, we think our engraved wooden boxes do the trick nicely… but that doesn’t mean you can’t add your own personal flare with bright wrapping, bows and ribbons!
When will my decanter set arrive?
Each product is made to order (including the matching wooden box), and the processing/production time is approximately two business days from your design approval. Shipping takes between one and 14 business days, depending on your location.
I need a gift ASAP! What do you recommend?
If you’ve left gift shopping a little late and your decanter set won’t arrive on time, simply get in touch to request a gift certificate. We’ll provide a photograph of their incoming gift that you can put in a card and let the receiver know that their gift is on its way.
